Pitbull/mix Information Taskforce (PIT)

This blog started after PIT founders tried unsuccessfully to adopt a pit/mix from The Whidbey Animals' Improvement Foundation (WAIF) on Whidbey Island, in the state of Washington. This may be happening where you live. The dog's name is Smiley. This blog is dedicated to him (and to good dogs everywhere trapped in his situation).

Mark the date. Sunday, August 24. Remember Monica and other dogs WAIF will likely euthanize.

Honor (or remember) Kali, Bubba, Kalvin, Julius, Tabatha, Howie, and Smiley, along with all the nameless dogs that will die after their mandatory holding period ends just because they look like pitbulls or pit/mixes. Host: MyDogVotes.com

Event: 4th Annual Candlelight Vigil Against Breed Bans, Puget Sound (send Oak Harbor politicians a message)

Time and Place: Sunday August 24th at the Everett courthouse (3000 Rockefeller Ave. Everett, Wa. 98201 - at the NE corner of the campus nearest to the Events Center, where "Oakes Ave." & "Wall St." cross)

From 8 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Light a candle in memory of all of the victims of breed bans (past, present, and future). Peacefully show the rest of the world that the ignorance must stop! Stand up for innocent dogs. Don't let them die without honoring their lives. Remember those gone. Light a candle for Jockster, or Ginger, or...

PIT Weekly Email, Vol. 7
Thur. June 19, 2008

PIT wants respect from governments, shelters, owners, and breeders for all "bully" breeds.

PIT opposes the slaughter (aka mass euthanasia) of any breed or mixed breed based on appearance.
(Here's why)

We support spay/neuter programs.

We believe every community can build coalitions that:

1. ENCOURAGE responsible:
ownership and fostering
breeding
training
shelter care and adoption outreach
media coverage

2. DISCOURAGE:
backyard breeding
breed-based euthanasia
breed specific legislation
dogfighting and other abuses

Humans let these dogs run loose, breed them indiscriminately, maintain them irresponsibly, then kill them in the name of efficiency, "sport" or public protection. This is a HUMAN problem.

PIT is based on Whidbey Island, WA
